Fee for Service Dental Insurance

Whenever you sign up with Fee for Service dental insurance plans, it is expected that you pay a fee every time you visit a medical professional. While this may sound daunting, you do have the opportunity to choose a dentist. At this point, you directly submit a claim to the dental insurance company.

In almost every case, there are two different kinds of payments when it comes to dental procedures. The most popular is direct reimbursement. This means that you are required to pay upfront and eventually the dental insurance company will reimburse you. Based on the number of dollars spent, you will then be reimbursed a certain amount of money. Instead of reimbursing based on the procedure, it is all focused on what you have spent during the visit.

The second form of payment, often referred to as indemnity, is a bit different than fee for service. Instead of assigning a payment for the amount you spend, it is actually designed around the actual dental procedure. Often time's customers are able to pay the difference and have the dentist claim this with their insurance. In other cases, customers actually have to claim it themselves. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the dental insurance plan might not pay what the dentist charges.
